Your questions about Simplifia

Understand Simplifia

The platform, what you can build and what to budget for.

What is Simplifia?

Simplifia is a platform for building, hosting and updating apps for your business. You connect your AI assistant to build tools for your work, such as a CRM, an expense tracker or a client hour tracker. The platform provides the environment where your apps, databases and connectors run.

What does Simplifia do alongside my AI assistant?

You talk to your assistant, such as ChatGPT or Claude, to describe your needs and request changes. Through the building connector, it can build your app on Simplifia. You then use the app in your browser. If you also want to operate it through your AI, a second connector gives it access to business tools, according to the permissions you set.

What is the difference between Simplifia, Lovable and Base44?

With Simplifia, you build apps using your own AI assistant, such as ChatGPT or Claude. Your apps and their data are hosted in Québec, and you can export your code and data. A business MCP connector then lets your AI interact with the app, according to the permissions and approvals you choose.

Can I build an app without knowing how to code?

Yes. Describe what you need in everyday language, then test the result: add sample data, try the main workflows and ask for any corrections. On Simplifia, your assistant writes the code. You decide how the app should work and check that it meets your needs.

Build an hour bank management app

You:

Build an app to manage my clients’ prepaid hour banks. For each client, I want to record purchased hours and completed work, including the date, a description and time spent. Automatically deduct time worked and show the remaining hours for each client. Let me add hours when a client buys a new block and view their work history. Add a few fictional clients so I can test the app.

What apps can I build with AI?

You can build tools for your work: client tracking, hours, expenses, requests or inventory. Choose an example below and send it to your assistant with the Simplifia building connector enabled. Replace the fields and rules with the ones your business needs.

Client tracking and CRM

Keep track of contacts, conversations and follow-ups.

You:

Build a simple CRM with a record for each client: name, company, email and phone number. Let me add notes after each conversation and set the next follow-up date. Show follow-ups due this week and add three fictional clients for testing.

Client hour tracking

See how much time has been used and how many hours remain.

You:

Build an app to track prepaid hours for each client. Let me enter purchased hours, then log each work session with its date, duration and a note. Calculate the balance and highlight clients with fewer than two hours remaining.

Expense tracking

Record purchases and see where your budget goes.

You:

Build an expense tracker with the date, supplier, amount and category. Let me filter by month and see totals by category. Add fictional expenses and let me correct an entry.

Request tracking

Organize incoming requests and see what still needs attention.

You:

Build an app to track requests I receive. Each request needs a title, description, priority and target date. Let me move it from “To do” to “In progress”, then “Done”, and filter urgent requests.

Equipment inventory

Track available quantities and items that need reordering.

You:

Build an inventory with each item’s name, reference, location and available quantity. Let me record incoming and outgoing stock and keep a movement history. Show items whose quantity is below a minimum threshold I set.

Improve your first version

Start with one example. Test it with fictional data, then ask for one improvement at a time: a filter, a field or an additional view. Always specify which app to change if you have several.

How much does it cost to build an app with AI?

Budget for your Simplifia plan and, separately, any cost for your AI assistant. Conversations with your assistant consume tokens. Your AI provider sets its own prices and usage limits. If your project needs custom development services, those are added according to your needs.

What happens to my app if I reach my AI usage limit?

Your app remains available on Simplifia and runs normally without needing AI. To resume conversations with your assistant, simply wait for your AI provider to reset your allowance or choose an option it offers.

Who can help me build a custom app with AI?

The Simplifia team can help you define your needs, build your app and implement the integrations you need. Custom development services are particularly useful for projects involving complex business rules or connections to several systems.

Connect and build

Connect your AI, build, test and manage versions.

What is an MCP connector and what does it do?

An MCP connector links an AI assistant to tools and data sources. MCP stands for Model Context Protocol: it lets the assistant discover and use those tools. In Simplifia, one connector is used to build your apps. A second gives access to an app’s tools, such as finding a client, with permissions you choose.

  • Keep the default options.
  • Click Add, then follow the steps to sign in to your Simplifia account and authorize the connection if prompted.
  • Start a new conversation. In the + > Connectors menu, make sure Simplifia is enabled.

Check the connection

You:

Explain Simplifia to me.

How do I build an app with AI?

Describe what your app should do, what information it needs to store and who will use it. Your AI assistant, connected to Simplifia, builds the app and its database. By default, a new version is published automatically after a successful build. You can turn off automatic publishing to review changes before publishing them.

You:

Build an app to track my expenses. I want to enter the date, amount and category, then see a monthly total.

How do I test changes to an app before publishing them?

Your AI prepares changes in the development channel. By default, Simplifia publishes them automatically after a successful build. To test changes before publishing, turn off “Automatic production publishing” in the app’s settings. You can then view the development version and choose when to publish it.

You:

In my expense app, add a total for each category. Prepare the new version and check the calculation with fictional data. Explain what changed so I can review the result.

Can I view my app’s code history?

Yes. In your app’s settings, “Version history” lets the owner view saved versions of the code. Automatically restoring an earlier version is not currently available.

Can code history recover deleted data?

No. The history keeps versions of the code, not past states of your data. It cannot recover a client record, expense or other information deleted from the app.

Use and automate

Business tools, permissions and automations.

Can an app built with AI run without AI?

Yes. Your app runs on Simplifia without needing AI. Your assistant is used to build and modify it, and can also interact with it through an MCP connector. You can use the app directly in your browser without going through your assistant.

How do I create MCP tools so my AI can take action in my app?

Ask your AI to create MCP tools for the actions you need, such as finding a client or adding a note. These tools become available to the business connector when the version containing them is published.

You:

In my CRM, create MCP tools to find a client by name or email, read their notes and add a note. For adding a note, use the client ID and the note text. Return a clear result and explain how I can test each tool.

Where do I find the app’s connector?

In your published app, open Connections, then MCP connectors. Create a connector, choose its tool permissions and add its URL to your assistant. This address differs from the general connector used to build your apps.

How do I prevent an AI agent from changing my data without approval?

For your published app’s tools, choose “Allow”, “Ask” or “Deny” in the connector’s permissions. With “Ask”, the action waits for your approval; with “Deny”, it is blocked. This lets you keep control over important changes: the “human in the loop” approach.

How can I use ChatGPT or Claude to query my app’s data?

Connect your assistant to your app’s tools, then ask your question in everyday language. On Simplifia, this uses a second MCP connector, separate from the one used to build the app. The assistant can retrieve information or perform the actions provided by the available tools, according to its permissions.

Query your data

You:

Which clients should I follow up with this week? Summarize the latest notes in their records and their scheduled follow-up dates.

Add information

You:

Find the client record with the email client@example.com. Add the note “The client would like a follow-up next week”. If several records match, ask me which one to choose.

These examples assume your app has the corresponding search, query or add tools. Use that app’s business connector and replace the sample email. An action that requires approval will wait for your decision in Simplifia.

How do I connect my app to n8n, Zapier or Power Automate with a REST API?

Your published app can expose its business tools through a REST API for n8n, Zapier or Power Automate automations. The owner can find the URL, access key, permissions and documentation under Connections, then REST API.

You:

For my shared expense app, create a tool that lets an n8n automation add an expense. It should receive the date, supplier, amount and category. Add an external reference to prevent the same expense from being recorded twice.

Tools called through REST follow the connector’s permissions. If you require human approval, the automation must account for that approval.

How do I manage my team’s access to an app?

With a team account, you choose which members can use each app. Each member has their own access and personal data. The owner can view a member’s app in read-only mode; shared data follows the app’s rules.

Keep your data and code

Hosting, ownership and export options.

Can an app built with AI be hosted in Canada?

Yes. On Simplifia, apps, code, data and files are hosted in Montréal, Québec. Information you send to your AI assistant is also processed by its provider, according to its own terms and processing locations.

Who owns the code of an app built with AI on Simplifia?

You own your app’s source code. You can retrieve it by exporting the app from your owner account.

Can I export my app’s source code and database?

Yes. You can export the source code, your PostgreSQL database schema and data to keep a copy or prepare a migration.

Can I host an app built on Simplifia elsewhere?

Yes. You can export the source code, PostgreSQL schema and data to host your app elsewhere. This takes technical work: you need to set up hosting and adapt the features that depend on Simplifia, such as authentication, data access and connectors.
